Hi Jacques,

Somewhere along the e-mail chain the spelling of Blume became Bloom. My old
phone directory indicates the spelling for Ed's name is Blume.

Ed was in LASR a few months ago. He was with his son (had a doctor's appointment) and they were walking around the 1st floor trying to find somebody they knew. I heard his voice first and realized who it was. Then I said, "Ed Bloom, what are you doing here!!" he looked at me and started crying because he didnt recognize no one in the building anymore. Then I told him that "Ellen is here" and he went to your office.

I hadnt seen Ed in about 15 years or more! I do not live that far from the funeral home (I'm on vacation this week) so I might go by there tomorrow.

Hi to all, I ordered flowers sent from LASR. You are welcome to pitch in, but that is not necessary. It just seemed important to have a LASR presence at Ed's funeral. He loved his work here so much.

Ed Bloom passed away on Saturday, at 89 years of age. His stepson, Mike Madden, called with the details of the planned services. Ed had had his gall bladder removed a few months ago, and it was found to be gangrenous. He conquered the infection that spread from it, and actually seemed to be recovering. Unfortunately, another infection got him while his immune system was weakened.

Ed's wake will be held on Wednesday, 8/17, at 2 PM, followed at 4:30 by a mass, at

Tews Funeral Home
18230 S. Dixie Highway
Homewood, IL

Contact information for Ed's wife/Mike's mom:

Margaret Bloom
632 Dundee Avenue
Flossmoor, IL 60422
Mike's cell phone number is 708-769-0492.

Please pass this on to anyone else who knew Ed and would appreciate this notice.
